About Larkollen

Larkollen is a Norwegian village in the Viken community. It is known as a summer destination and has many summer cabins, beaching, and camping locations to enjoy.

History of Larkollen

The name of Larkollen started to appear around the mid-1600s and was known as a safe place to harbor even large ships. The exact origin of the name is unknown, however, it is likely related to the nearby island Kollen.

During the 1800s Larkollen started to become known as a summer destination. And so this great tradition of summering in Larkollen continues to this day. During the rest of the year only about 1500 people live in Larkollen, however, that number doubles or triples during the summertime.
